Queen for a Day®

Queen for a Day® is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization offering quality of life services to pediatric cancer patients. We pamper girls with make-overs, manicures, and a ‘coronation ceremony’ where each girl is crowned as a champion over her illness with a tiara donated by a pageant titleholder. We treat boys with hero-themed gifts, reinforcing bravery and courage through police officers and firefighters.
ABOUT QFAD:
Queen for a Day® hosts parties at hospitals with pediatric oncology/cancer units or out-patient clinics. The parties must include a set-up for make-up application and painting nails. Also, each patient is given her own rhinestone tiara. A picture is taken of each girl for her to take home. Some chapters have added crafts, such as frame-decorating or designing a page for the chapter memory album, to give the patients something to do while waiting. It is encouraged to have a pageant titleholder or titleholders present at the parties for pictures and to crown the girls. Potential volunteers are not required to have pageant experience.
SCHEDULE:
Our next event is to be held at the Edinburg Children’s Hospital on November 8th, 2008 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. All reigning queens currently in Junior High and older are invited to attend. Please send an e-mail to confirm your attendance prior to the event. For anyone unable to attend but are interested in helping through donating items, please be sure to read our Queen for a Day® topic on the message board.
